The Philippine initiative to put the interests of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) “front and center” of global and regional trade has made significant progress following the conclusion of the 2nd APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM2) and Related Meetings held from 10 to 21 May.
Called “The Boracay Action Agenda to Globalize MSMEs,” the Philippine proposal calls for a host of specific, concrete and practical interventions that APEC economies can implement to provide MSMEs wider opportunities to integrate into global or regional trade, either through global value chains (GVCs) or as direct exporters of finished goods and services.

Palawan Welcomes BIMP EAGA Senior Officials on Transportation and Connectivity Talks
Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP EAGA) Senior Officials and Cluster Heads flew to Puerto Princesa, Palawan on 25 to 26 May 2015 to strengthen commitments on connectivity and transportation linkages, among others, in the completion of the BIMP EAGA Blueprint for 2012-2016.
The two-day event was attended by Philippine Senior Official and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Prudencio M. Reyes, Jr., Palawan Governor Jose Chavez Alvarez, and Senior Officials and Cluster Heads from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
