The Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) recently held a briefing for interested exporters at the DTI International Building in preparation for its outbound business mission (OBM) to the United States (US) and Canada on May 15-28.

The delegation will cover the East Coast area in the US and will conclude with their participation in Centrallia 2016, a business matching event in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

EMB Assistant Director Agnes Perpetua R. Legaspi stressed the importance of joining outbound missions. ?We really want to position our products to what the market needs. The last outbound mission to the US has been an eye-opening experience to us. It has provided us with insights about the US market and the challenge on how we can mainstream our products like what our ASEAN neighbors have achieved,? Legaspi added.

The first phase of the OBM will be held in New York City from May 15 to 22, 2016.Here, participating exporters will have the opportunity to establish or deepen their presence in the US market through business-to-business (B2B) meetings, store checks, and information sessions.

From New York, EMB together with participating exporters will proceed to Winnipeg Canada for the Centrallia 2016, to be held from May 25-27. Organized by the World Trade Center (WTC) Winnipeg, Centrallia is a multi-sectoral, international B2B forum focused on generating trade and business development opportunities.?

Around 700 participants from Canada and around the world are expected to take part in what is dubbed as the ?speed dating for small and medium sized businesses?. This event is a way for the Philippine delegation to tap opportunities for the international market through business matching and networking. Philippine participation to Centrallia 2016 is co-organized with the World Trade Center Metro Manila.

Participants to the OBM will come from various sectors including food, personal care, health and wellness products as well as construction materials.

Other government promotion agencies like the Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA), Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), Tourism Promotions Board, and the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority will also join EMB in Centrallia.
