REGIONAL OPERATIONS

Region 11
“Kayo ang Boss ko!” is the mantra which President Benigno S.
Aquino III started to embrace the moment he assumed post
   in 2010.

This commitment is a manifestation of the government’s -
public service. It clearly drives a message to all government workers
that we are mandated by virtue of our office to provide the general
public with nothing but the best of service.

The Department of Trade and Industry’s slogan is “Enabling Business, Empowering Consumers”. To achieve such goal, we provide the most appropriate and relevant program services to address the business and consumer needs to warrant a level playing business field and to ensure every consumer of their money’s worth in terms of the goods and services that they get from the business sector. DTI-XI strongly advocates that we are being felt by the people we serve.

MARIZON S. LORETO, CESO IV
Regional Director

Davao Region, your business and leisure destination

Region XI (Davao) is composed of four provinces - Davao del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Compostela Valley - and six cities - Davao City, Tagum City, Island Garden City of Samal, Panabo City, Mati City, and Digos City - which all boast of individual strengths as they entice investors and tourists alike to be interested with their respective areas.

With its 19,671.8sq. km. land area, which is 6.6% of the Philippines total land area and 20% of Mindanao, the region really has a lot to offer -from leisure havens to investment destinations. You add up the fact that the region is typhoon-free and is blessed with fertile soil, lush forests, and rare flora and fauna.

If a local or foreign visitor is planning to visit Davao Region for a grand or even a short vacation, he/she may experience an array of sports activities in the pristine and relaxing white sand beaches and the majestic mountains all over the region. But if sports is not the visitor’s interest, he/she may enjoy shopping for the latest gadget and trendy outfits, or simply roam around the malls or hop around the numerous bars and night spots. A handful of restaurants serving Filipino and foreign cuisines are also available to satisfy your palate. Indeed, Davao Region offers satisfaction from islands to highlands!

Meanwhile, if you’re coming over to invest, Davao Region is truly a perfect hub for you. With the region’s vast natural resources, reliable facilities, conducive business environment, and competitive human resources, who would not be convinced to locate here?

Its existing road network, airport and seaport facilities efficiently support both travel and trade, making the region a major gateway to the ASEAN and Pacific economies.

The sophisticated communications infrastructure of Mindanao’s premier city, Davao City, has boosted its bid as the main ICT hub and favorite convention site in the island.

Keeping a step ahead of others

The region’s stakeholders and prime movers know what businesses need. Having this in mind, stakeholders both from the government and private sector have been working together towards providing an environment where business growth is at reach.

The creation of the National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (NERBAC) housed at the DTI offices throughout the region has been the answer to the business sector’s call to lower the cost of doing business by providing local investment incentives and streamlining business registration processes. It can be recalled that the NERBAC in Davao City is the pilot all over the country.

Moreover, the region’s expanded infrastructure and telecommunication capabilities has strengthened further its position as the country’s gateway to the East ASEAN Growth Area and as Mindanao’s transshipment hub.

Effective and efficient peace and order program is also in place.

A major manifestation of the region’s comparative advantage is the recognition of its two cities - Davao and Tagum - as among the most competitive areas in the Philippines by the Asian Institute of Management (AIM).
