Northern Mindanao is one hour and 15 minutes by air from Metro Manila to its regional capital Cagayan de Oro City.With a land area of 19,279 sqm., the region has five provinces, eight cities, and roughly 3.5M people.
Trade And Service Center
Northern Mindanao is Mindanao's Trade and Service Center. Its strategic location offers traders and producers the most cost-efficient transit between Mindanao and the Visayas and Luzon and to major foreign markets like the United States, Japan, and Europe. Road projects connecting the region to all major points of Mindanao are in place.

Infrastructure support is in place. The Mindanao Container Terminal (MCT) Port at PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental will improve access to international markets. And the planned construction of the international airport in Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental will further boost access of the region to international destinations. The planned establishment of the Panguil Bay Bridge will hasten the flow of goods and people from the western side of the region.

Big Ones Are Here

Northern Mindanao hosts big manufacturing firms engaged in diverse industries like steel manufacturing, food processing, bottling facility, power generation, and other industries. Owing to its strategic location, business parks, and economic zones (ecozones) have been developed.

Top export goods include canned pineapple, Sintered ore, prawns and shrimps, fatty alcohol coconut oil, and other coco-based products.

The region’s rich pool of skilled and easily trainable labor and the type of jobs available has contributed positively to the agriculture and service sectors-spurred economic growth of the region.
Northern Mindanao Vision
The growth and development of Northern Mindanao are hinged on its medium-term development plans. Northern Mindanao is envisioned to be a leading Industrial and Trade Center with vibrant, skilled, and productive men and women enjoying equal opportunities and living in a peaceful and healthful environment.

The region has an integrated and complementary economy. Bukidnon is positioned as the region’s major food producer; Lanao del Norte as the industrial center; the Panguil Bay Sub region in Misamis Occidental is the region’s fisheries and alternate tourism zone; Camiguin Island is the Tourism Haven; the Macalajar Growth Area encompasses the areas within Cagayan de Oro City as the Trade and Service Center; and Misamis Oriental as the Urbanized Agri-Industrial Center in Mindanao.

Northern Mindanao offers a year-round outdoor lifestyle where one can indulge in a wide range of sports like golf, white water-rafting, mountain climbing, and biking. Facilities for tennis, basketball, and badminton are also in place.

The region is also surrounded with the splendor of nature. Cagayan de Oro is the gateway to the island paradise of Camiguin where hot and cold springs, white sandy beaches, abound. Bukidnon is the home of the sweetest pineapples. The presence of natural attractions, the waterfalls of Iligan, the Kitanglad Ranges, caves, and lakes in Bukidnon and Misamis Occidental complete the region's fascinating seneries.
