DTI-Laguna joins in the Nationwide Launching of E-Presyo

  1. DTI – Laguna organizes an Orientation on E-Presyo, an Online Price Monitoring System (OPMS) on October 24, 2016

In line with the Nationwide Launching of E-Presyo, the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI – Laguna) conducted an Orientation on E-Presyo, an Online Price Monitoring System (OPMS) right after the Flag Raising Ceremony at the Training Room, DTI – Laguna, Victoria, Laguna on October 24, 2016. It was attended by DTI – Laguna staff and business establishments engaged in the retail of basic necessities and prime commodities.

In her opening remarks, DTI – Laguna Provincial Director Susan R. Palo mentioned that this activity is part of the celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month with the theme, “Consumer Protection: A Shared Responsibility”. She stressed out the meaning of the theme, which is the consumer protection should come from the government alone, but also from both the consumers and business establishments. Thus, she urged the business establishments to partner with DTI in providing protection to consumers through self-regulation on the existing trade and industry laws and providing quality service and products.

Dir. Palo gave also an overview on OPMS.

The speaker, Mr. Christian Ted O. Tungohan of the Consumer Protection Division (CPD) of DTI – Laguna presented the e-Presyo. He said that the aim of this program is to inform the public on the new development on the price monitoring system of DTI. He emphasized that through this OPMS, both consumers and business establishments will be guided on the current price situations of basic necessities and prime commodities under DTI’s jurisdiction in different cities and municipalities in the country. He added that they can access the real-time data of prices at e-presyo right on their personal computer, laptop, tablet or cellular phones.

Right after the presentation, a short demonstration of the e-presyo was done for the participants to familiarize the program/software.

“E-Presyo” is the Online Price Monitoring System of the DTI where consumers can check for the prevailing prices of basic necessities and prime commodities that are being monitored by the DTI.

2. DTI – Laguna starts price monitoring using the E-Presyo, an Online Price Monitoring System (OPMS) on October 24, 2016

After the Orientation on E-Presyo, an Online Price Monitoring System (OPMS), the monitoring staff of the Consumer Protection Division (CPD) of the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI – Laguna) started the price monitoring using the e-presyo in Sta. Cruz, Los Banos and San Pablo City on October 24, 2016.

All cities and municipalities of the province of Laguna will be monitored using the e-presyo on a monthly basis. This is to make sure that the consumers will be updated on the price information of basic and prime commodities.

The e-presyo is capable of collecting, processing and storing real-time prices of basic necessities and prime commodities under DTI’s jurisdiction. Thus, the consumers will be aware of the price information and guided in doing their grocery shopping.
