In order to heighten consumer awareness and promote the consumer protection programs and services, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the initiative of the Consumer Protection and Advocacy Bureau (CPAB) launches the social media-based advocacy campaign entitled “#consumerPH.”
The project is conceptualized for the information and protection of the consumers. The CPAB develops information, education, and communication (IEC) campaigns that will help consumers or consumers groups understand the laws, policies, programs, and services designed to cater them. The #consumerPH aims to strengthen the presence of the Department on various social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to widen its reach in promoting consumer awareness in the country and to enable a more responsible society.
The project will employ the concept of hashtag for every day of the week namely #WhatsUpSunday, #AskMonday, #TriviaTuesday, #WittyWednesday, #ThursdayTips, #FridayFigures, and #SaturdayRecap. The posts will focus on the consumer-related topic for the week.
The #WhatsUpSunday will contain teasers of the topic for the week; #AskMonday will contain videos and image captions of DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez and Consumer Protection Group (CPG) Undersecretary Teodoro C. Pasuca sharing bits and pieces of consumer information; #TriviaTuesday will contain facts and trivia about consumerism; #WittyWednesday will provide consumer tips shared by consumers themselves; #ThursdayTips on the other hand will provide consumer tips shared by the DTI officers and survey question for the week; the #FridayFigures will contain posts on the results of the survey questions; and lastly the #SaturdayRecap is a video recap on what has transpired during that week.
