Trade Undersecretary for Industry Development and Board of Investments (BOI) Managing Head Ceferino S. Rodolfo led the inauguration of the manufacturing facility of Pietrucha Manufacturing Philippines, Inc. (PMPI), in Mariveles Bataan.

PMPI is a joint venture between Pietrucha Group of Companies of Poland and a local company, Design Science Inc.

Its 3,000sq.m facility located inside the Authority of Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) houses modern machineries that employ next generation vinyl sheet pile technology for a variety of engineering and industrial applications.

Aside from developing an in-house manufacturing technology, the Pietrucha Group is one of the world’s largest producers of vinyl sheet piles and geosynthetics with more than 20 years of manufacturing experience.

PMPI started initial operations in June 2016 and will be serving the growing Philippine market and other neighboring countries in the ASEAN region. On the other hand, Design Science, Incorporated is an infrastructure solutions and consulting company that has rendered notable engineering projects of various magnitudes for government’s infrastructure projects and private institutions as well.

Pietrucha Manufacturing (Philippines) Inc., first Polish Investment in the Manufacturing Sector
A Polish delegation headed by H.E. Joanna Wronecka, Vice Minister of Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Marcin Kubiak, Polish Ambassador to Malaysia, representatives of the Ministry of Development of Poland and H.E. Patricia Ann Paez, Philippine Ambassador to Poland, flew in to the country to grace the inauguration. AFAB Chairman Emmanuel Pineda and local officials led by Bataan Governor Albert Garcia were also present during the inauguration.

"Pietrucha’s confidence in the Philippines is a testament to further developments that we can expect in the country’s manufacturing sector in the years to come. It is very fitting, then, that the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) would host a key international player in the development of our manufacturing industry. As one of the key freeports in the country, AFAB serves as one of the preferred locations for manufacturing companies to establish their base of operations with relative ease,“ said DTI Usec. Rodolfo on his inaugural message during the ceremony and which was followed by an ocular tour at the plant.

“We are likewise strongly encouraged by the bullishness of the company as they are now planning for their expansion,” he said.

With the Philippines’ renewed focus on the manufacturing sector, the country has come to achieve the highest average annual growth in the manufacturing sector in the ASEAN region from 2010 to 2014 overtaking the global and regional industry growths. The 6.3% annual average growth rate can be attributed to the continuous government support to the manufacturing sector.
