The Department of Trade and Industry Region 02 recently launched its new online regional product catalogue, the inDOStriya.ph that will help and support the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Cagayan Region to expand their online presence.

The inDOStriya.ph features products proudly made in Cagayan Region and aims to help Negosyo Center clients with market-ready products and service to reach out to new markets thru online presence, and open opportunities for market matching and linkages.

Mark Joseph Panganiban, an e-commerce professional and Executive Director of Digital Commerce Association of the Philippines encouraged participants to maximize the opportunity provided by DTI in promoting their products online.

MSMEs based in Region 02 with market ready products were encouraged to enroll in the website provided that the meet the following criteria: (1) Duly registered with DTI for Sole Proprietorship, Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) for

Partnership/Corporation, and Cooperative Development Authority for Cooperatives. (2) With business permit and license from the City/Municipality where the physical business is located and (3) with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) License to Operate (LTO) for food and cosmetics.

Interested and qualified MSMEs may visit the nearest Negosyo Center in their location to fill out the registration form which may also be downloaded at www.indostriya.ph. They are required to submit a business profile of about 2-3 paragraphs and high resolution individual pictures of products to be enrolled.

As of date, about nineteen (19) MSMEs were enrolled with a total of more than 70 product lines.

Participants during the event were MSMEs from the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya.

About five (5) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from Region 02 recently joined the International Food Exhibition (IFEX) Philippines held on May 19-21, 2017 at the World Trade Center, Manila.

The event was organized by the Center for International Expositions and Missions (CITEM), the export promotions arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with the Department of Agriculture – Agribusiness Marketing Assistance Service (DA-AMAS). The event provided a venue for local and international food companies to take on new markets, launch products, and conduct business with the world’s biggest buyers

The show featured four exhibition halls: (1) Food Philippines Hall was the premier venue for top and emerging Philippine food export companies; (2) International Hall showcased the top food products and ingredients of leading companies and manufacturers across the globe; (3) Food Artisans Village featured the artisanal delicacies from the different regions of the Philippines presented by the DA-AMAS composed of different pavilions: processed fruits and nuts, cacao, coffee, coconut, and fruits and vegetables and (4) The Marketplace, a one-stop retail shop of premium food and food related products ranging from fruits and vegetables, meat and poultry, seafood products, processed food, snacks, and homemade regional delicacies.

About Php 118,450.00 total sales were generated by the five (5) participating MSMEs from the region. Among these MSMEs were Alcala Women RIC MPC of Cagayan, JBM Food Products of Isabela, Mid-East Sweets of Nueva Vizcaya, Batanes Garlic Cooperative of Batanes, and Mataga-ay Coffee Growers and Producers Cooperative of Quirino.

Among the buyers were TIANA (US), E-Nature (Mexico), Purefoods General Trading (Dubai), Cool and Link Marketing (Singapore), AK KAMAL (Brunei) and ECOE Plantation International (Hong Kong).

Various machines and technologies were also introduced like the coffee roaster, sugar cane juicer, packaging machines and egg separator, among others. Several activities were simultaneously conducted such as the food export and investment seminars and G-MART (Grocers Exchange Program), an exclusive business-to-business matching platform that connect retail giants with Philippine manufacturers and distributors.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Region 2 and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 2 held the 1st Cagayan Valley Bamboo Business Forum last July 31, 2017 at the Narra Hall, DENR Regional Office No. 02, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.

Aptly themed “Bamboo 2020: Innovation for Sustainability”, the forum provided an avenue for the promotion of various business opportunities such as engineered bamboo production, nursery propagation and management, bamboo furniture production, and bamboo waste utilization.

The activity also discussed the Philippine Bamboo Industry Development Roadmap 2016 – 2040 and various financing windows offered by Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) for Bamboo MSMEs.

Highlighting the event was the creation of the Regional Bamboo Council that will provide a united front for the growth and development of the industry in the region and a venue for collaboration among key industry players, Local Government Units (LGUs), academe, and other concerned agencies.

Among the esteemed pool of experts and speakers were Assistant Secretary Blesila Lantayona, DTI National Industry Cluster Enhancement (ICE) Program Coordinator; Regional Director Judith Angeles, National Bamboo Industry Cluster Coordinator; For. Gregorio E. Santos, Jr., Supervising SRS of DENR – ERDB; Dr. Rico J. Cabangon of DOST FPRDI; Mr. Salvio Valenzuela, Executive Director of the Chamber of Furniture Industry of the Philippines; Engr. Christopher Baga of Mariano Marco State University; and representatives from LBP.

The activity which was attended by 170 stakeholders across the region, is in support to the Industry Clustering Program of the Regional Development Council – Economic Development Committee 02 (RDC – EDC02).
