The DTI Aklan Provincial Office gears up for its 20th Aklan Piña and Fiber Festival to be held at the Trade Hall, Capitol Grounds in Kalibo, Aklan from 9:00am to 8:00pm on April 23 to 28, 2018.
The opening ceremony will be held at 3:00pm on April 23, 2018.
Anchored on the theme, “Innovating in the Digital Age,” the trade fair will feature products from different sectors such as processed food, home style and wearables, bamboo, coconut, cacao, health and wellness, among others.
Moreover, products from different Negosyo Centers in Aklan Province will also be displayed during the fair, together with the products of mentees under the mentorship program, Kapatid Mentor Me, of DTI and Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship.
With at least 101 MSMEs and LGUs participating, this year’s trade event aims to generate P5.78M in sales. Aside from the local consumers here, members of various industries such as the tourism sector and institutional buyers are invited to visit the trade fair.
DTI has also lined-up a series of programs and activities during the duration of the fair, which include a) Seminar on Online Marketing; b) Workshop – Skills Demo on T-Shirt Printing; c) Board of Investments – One Window Network Training Workshop; and d) Business Consultancy. These activities will run in the duration of the fair.
This marketing event is a public-private partnership project of DTI-Aklan, Provincial Government of Aklan, Hugod Aklanon Producers Association Inc., Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority and the Aklan Piña and Indigenous Fibers Manufacturers and Traders Association.
Participating MSMEs with ‘Most Innovative Product’, ‘Best Product Collection’, and ‘Best Booth’ will be given awards during the trade fair. DTI enjoins all Aklanons to visit the fair and avail of the programs and services of the Negosyo Center.♦

At least 50 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from handicrafts, processed food, and horticulture sectors are joining the annual Capiztahan Agro-Industrial Trade Fair at the Capiz Provincial Park on April 13-15, 2018.
The trade fair is part of the three-day festival jointly organized by the Capiz Provincial Government, Provincial MSME Development Council, Capiz MSME Center, Inc., DTI Capiz Provincial Office and Capiz Provincial Agriculturist Office.
The fair will promote the culture and bounty of the Province of Capiz, as it likewise encourages local MSMEs (from Roxas City and 16 towns) to continue to innovate, achieve market acceptance and promote the province through its sumptuously prepared food, intricately crafted handicrafts, and horticulture speaking of its richness and colorful tradition.
These exhibitors have been participating in the annual provincial fairs organized by DTI Capiz and have gained wider market reach over the years. As Director Pollentes said, “This is an opportunity to better market your products and create higher demand.”
A one million target sales is projected for the DTI Capiz-assisted MSMEs in this year’s three-day fair with the continuous product development assistance provided by the agency.♦

The DTI Capiz Provincial Office, through its Negosyo Center (NC) in Sapian, conducted a series of the seminars to the residents of Brgys. Majanlud and Maninang that also included 4Ps beneficiaries.
A total of 100 participants (44 in Majanlud and 56 in Maninang) were acquainted in Barangay Entrepreneurship and Development Seminar, Green Economic Development, Go Negosyo Act, Barangay Micro Business Enterprises, Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pagasenso, and Gender and Development.
The participants actively joined the learning sessions. Many raised questions after each topic signifying their willingness to learn things that could equip them with the knowledge about entrepreneurship.
During the said activity, Ms. May Ann C. Cerilo, the Business Counselor assigned in NC Sapian, discussed the importance of having the right entrepreneurial mindset to succeed in business.
Aside from this, they were also informed about the functions of Negosyo Center and were encouraged to avail of its services at the soonest time possible so as they can start putting up their own business in the Municipality of Sapian.
