The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through its Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (BDTP) will mount its 14th Bagsakan on 7 July Tuesday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the DTI Head Office in Makati City. The BDTP in coordination with the DTI –Region 2 and its Provincial Offices will help farmers, fruit growers and micro and small enterprises from Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino provinces market their fresh produce and traditional delicacies to reach more buyers and consumers in the NCR, generate revenues to sustain their operations and support the country’s economy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Themed as “Padday na Lima” which means “Made by Hand” in the native dialect of Cagayan Valley, the upcoming Bagsakan will proudly showcase fresh vegetables, fruits, native delicacies, processed food products, and non-food items made by the communities in Region 2 allowing patrons, institutional buyers, and individual consumers in Metro Manila and nearby provinces to conveniently order and pick up these products during the event.

Tons of fresh vegetables and fruits will be on sale including varieties of bananas, citrus fruits, dragon fruits, littuko or rattan fruit, pineapple, carabao mangoes, the big golden queen mangoes, celery, lettuce, onion leeks, coconut, native garlic, green chili, squash, cauliflower, broccoli, cucumber, eggplant, sweet potato, ginger, puso ng saging, ampalaya, tomatoes, sayote, potatoes, carrot, cabbage, okra, bell pepper, and varieties of healthy rice.

Among the processed foods on sale are the Tuguegarao premium longanisa, peanut products, rich selection of pickled food products, chicharabao in different flavors, snacks, pineapple jam, gourmet fish products and sardines, fruit wines, mushroom crisps, Cagayan coffee blends, turmeric and ginmeric teas, mango and calamansi juice, puree and concentrate, and more. Cagayan MSMEs will also showcase in-demand non-food products such as their woven and colorful facemasks, essential oils, canvas bags, native baskets, and native brooms. Since the first Bagsakan in March 2020, the DTI-BDTP has helped generate over P4M in cumulative sales for farmers, fruit growers and MSMEs by promoting their products in social media to reach consumers and buyers. At the same time, the Bagsakan Special project helped secure the availability of food and essential supplies for the public even during the period of quarantine. The project has helped MSMEs and farmers from the provinces of Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Bataan, Zambales, Laguna, Quezon, Camarines Sur, Guimaras, Cordillera Administrative Region and the NCR.
