The IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) hosted the annual event to honor the champions and stalwarts of the Philippine IT-BPM industry for their support to the local industry and its associations. Recognized for its invaluable contribution to the local IT-BPM industry by continuously working to position the Philippines as a preferred investment destination in the world, the BOI was chosen as the recipient of the award for undertaking numerous collaborative efforts with the association in promoting the local industry to global players.
The BOI pioneered in the development and growth of the IT-BPM industry through its initiatives in the promotion of the Philippines as a call center destination during the early 2000s. From then on, the industry has expanded and diversified into other higher value services such as software development, healthcare information management system, game development, animation, engineering services, etc. Likewise, multinational companies (MNCs) have established their global in-house center in the Philippines for their back office operations such as HR, finance and accounting, payroll, etc.
The agency continues to support IBPAP in promoting the local industry through the conduct of promotion activities highlighting the country’s competencies in providing higher value activities, most recently through Philippine participation at global IT-BPM conferences, notably at HIMSS 2017 and CeBIT 2016, and the establishment and promotion of “GameDev Philippines,” the official branding of the local video game development industry.
