Manila, Philippines, 23 August 2024 — The Department of Trade and Industry culminates the Creative Cities and Municipalities Congress (CCMC) with the highly anticipated Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) awarding ceremony, held at the Fiesta Pavilion of The Manila Hotel. The event recognizes the outstanding achievements of local government units (LGUs) across the country, highlighting their efforts in fostering economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure development, resilience, and innovation.
The CMCI awarding ceremony is an annual event that celebrates the strides made by cities and municipalities in enhancing their competitiveness. These awards are a testament to the continued dedication of these LGUs to sustainable development and innovation.
Top Highlights from the 2024 CMCI Awards:
- Top Province: Rizal Province (Region IV-A)
- Overall Most Competitive Highly Urbanized City: Quezon City, Metro Manila (National Capital Region)
- Overall Most Competitive Component City: Naga City, Camarines Sur (Region V)
- Overall Most Competitive 1st-2nd Class Municipality: Cainta, Rizal (Region IV-A)
- Overall Most Competitive 3rd-4th Class Municipality: Can-Avid, Eastern Samar (Region VIII)
- Overall Most Competitive 5th-6th Class Municipality: Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte (Region X)
In its 11th year, the awarding ceremony formed part of the CCMC, which aimed to foster collaboration and innovation among cities and municipalities nationwide. Further, CCMC featured various sessions and discussions on sustainable urban development, creative placemaking, and creating creative indices to advocate for more creative cities.
