Diskwento Caravan CWM Edition 2017

And it is back.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its Consumer Protection Group (CPG), opens a five-day Diskwento Caravan–Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) Edition, with the Certified Products’ Market, from 09 to 13 October 2017 in front of the UPRC Bldg., 315 Sen Gil J. Puyat Ave., Makati City.

The Caravan guarantees discounted prices on various basic necessities and prime commodities as well as on certified products with the Philippine Standard (PS) and Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) marks.

“The DTI would like to take this opportunity to help our consumers get the best value of products for their hard-earned money, especially in preparation for the nearing holiday season. Hence, we bring in several local manufacturers and distributors in this kind of activity. We also assure the buying public that they get not only discounts but also safety and quality of the items exhibited in the Diskwento Caravan,” CPG Undersecretary Atty. Teodoro C. Pascua emphasizes.

Meanwhile, DTI-Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) Assistant Director Ferdinand L. Manfoste confirms 28 exhibitors in the Caravan, offering products such as bread, canned goods, frozen processed meats, herbal oils, Marikina shoes and bags, leather goods, motorcycle helmets, home appliances, electrical wiring devices, LPG cylinders, Christmas lights and fireworks.

FTEB AD Manfoste also prompts, “We call on our consumers who want to save and maximize their budget to visit our Diskwento Caravan because they can avail 5% to 50% discount depending on the item they will buy. The Caravan is also open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.”

The exhibitors who offer basic necessities and prime commodities in the Caravan are Julie’s Bakeshop (bread), Young’s Town (canned sardines), and San Miguel Food Inc. (canned beef).

On the other hand, the exhibitors of certified products are Everstrong Helmet Manufacturing Corporation (motorcycle helmet), Exponent Konka Group Inc. (television sets), Eagle Electric of the Philippines (electrical wiring devices), Peideworth (LPG Cylinder), Dragon Fireworks (fireworks), Shining East Marketing Corp. and Ikhea Lightings Inc. (Christmas lights), and Evergood Unlimited Corp., Pan-Eurasia and Camel Appliances Manufacturing Corp. (home appliances).

Frozen processed meats or cold cuts such as hotdogs and meat loaf are also being sold by Mekeni Food Corporation, King James Foods, and San Miguel Foods Inc.

There are also Marikina shoes and bags distributors, namely, Cpoint, Zachy/Bobmars, Ventto, L. Evaristo, 3kc Shoes, Princess Illona, Zykie, Nicko Angelo, Alligator Shoes, and Carl Mitchell.

Furthermore, CHAI offers hand-crafted wallets, while Herbosido and One Natural vend herbal oils and other related products.

The conduct of Diskwento Caravan–CWM Edition, with the Certified Products’ Market, is one of the activities that the DTI-CPG has lined up as part of the celebration of the 20th Consumer Welfare Month this October, 43rd National Standards Week from 08 to 14 October, and 48th World Standards Day on 14 October.

The theme of this year’s CWM is “Consumer Rights in the Digital Age,” while the theme of the 43rd National Standards Week and 48th World Standards Day is “Standards Make Cities Smarter.”♦
