MANILA CITY – On 8 May 2025, the Philippine Domestic Construction Board (PDCB), represented by Engr. Jocelyn C. Carrasco, Engr. Nikki C. Najarro, and Engr. Renz Maverick E. Alcance, recently met with Atty. John Alexander S. Belderol, Officer-in-Charge Executive Director of the National Building Code Development Office (NBCDO) under the Office of the Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and discussed the DPWH’s dual mandate in national development.
Atty. Belderol highlighted the DPWH’s critical functions—as the lead government agency responsible for the design and delivery of major public infrastructure that supports the country’s economic and social development, and as the regulatory authority ensuring compliance with the National Building Code of the Philippines (NBCP), anchored on the principles in the Civil Code of the Philippines on public safety and stability of structures to protect life, property, and public welfare.
During the meeting, Atty. Belderol welcomed the PDCB’s initiative to work collaboratively with industry stakeholders in the development and harmonization of standards for government infrastructure projects. This collaborative approach promotes consistency and alignment in infrastructure development efforts across the country.
The PDCB reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the DPWH-NBCDO and other key partners in the modernization and effective implementation of the NBCP, ensuring it remains responsive to the nation’s evolving development needs.
