Nineteen (19) fire victims received negosyo starter kits from DTI Asec. Niño Contreras with DTI Misamis Oriental PD OIC-PD Almer R. Masillones and other government officials

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Oriental Provincial Office grants convenience store negosyo starter kits to 19 fire victims of Barangay Gusa, Cagayan de Oro last 13 November 2020. 

The convenience store negosyo starter kit is expected to jumpstart a means of livelihood for the victims of the two separate fire incidents that happened on 10 August 2020 and 22 September 2020 in Purok 4B, Gusa, Cagayan de Oro and Purok 4 Centro, Gusa, Cagayan de Oro, respectively.

The symbolic ceremonial turn-over was held at Barangay Gusa Covered Court in Cagayan de Oro, led by DTI Assistant Secretary Niño Contreras, PPG Head for Visayas and Mindanao Region and joined by DTI Misamis Oriental OIC-Provincial Director Almer R. Masillones and Gusa Barangay Captain Marlo L. Tabac and Gusa Brgy. Kagawad Joseph M. Baltazar. Also in attendance is Ms. Frances Jann Sofia Tongson of the Cagayan de Oro City Social Welfare Development and TESDA Misamis Oriental Provincial Director Marigold Cherie R. Garrido, who each gave their message of support.

Each fire victim received P6,000 worth of convenience store negosyo starter kits from DTI containing fast-moving, basic, and prime consumer items that are the usual fare of sari-sari stores. 

The Office of Assistant Secretary Niño Contreras added to the convenience store package by providing food packages, face shields, and face masks for each beneficiary, which also showcased one mountain bike to be awarded to a winning beneficiary drawn by a raffle. TESDA also brought with them giveaways given to the fire victims.

Despite having a prior and equally important engagement, Brgy. Capt. Marlo L. Tabac, took time out of his meeting to give his message of support and gratitude. 

DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez and Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Teroso Go also extended their support thru a video message. 

Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa (PPG) is a program of DTI that intends to restore affected livelihoods and businesses of victims of calamities. Under the program, DTI shall distribute negosyo starter kits to each family according to their existing livelihood or business interests. These toolkits or start-up kits will enable the families to recover and start again their business that they lost because of the calamity. ♦
