Taguig City, Philippines—Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina A. Roque strongly endorsed the RCBC x BahAI Real Estate Financing and Property-Matching Platform launch on May 6. This digital solution efficiently assists the economic reintegration of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) by streamlining the homeownership process in the Philippines.
“This project fits perfectly with President Ferdinand R. Marcos’ vision of a ‘Bagong Pilipinas’—a country that uses digital tools to make life more comfortable and inclusive for all Filipinos,” said Secretary Roque.
“At the DTI, we are proud to support platforms like BahAI. Because when we help our OFWs invest in a home, we are also helping them invest in a better future—for themselves, their families, and our country,” she added.
Developed by Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), in partnership with Talino Venture Studios, the BahAI platform employs artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate the property buying process. It offers OFWs secure and easy services, simplifying decision-making through features such as verified property listings, tailored financing options, and personalized digital assistance.
Secretary Roque commended the RCBC for its commitment to digital innovation and financial inclusion, noting the bank’s consistent efforts in leveraging accessible technologies for the Filipinos. She also acknowledged Talino Venture Studios for its human-centered approach to technology development.
“And this is what technology should do—not make things complicated, but make life better. And with BahAI, we are bringing our OFWs closer to home, one step at a time,” said the trade chief.
Secretary Roque encouraged the RCBC to broaden its assistance for OFWs by incorporating access to franchise financing into its services. She highlighted franchising as a reliable business model with a proven track record, presenting an attractive investment opportunity for OFWs seeking stable income and long-term financial security upon their return.
To facilitate this, the DTI is currently collaborating with the Philippine Franchise Association to identify the top 20 franchise brands most suitable for returning OFWs, potentially including well-known names in the food and retail sectors.
Ultimately, the DTI continues to advance initiatives that harness digital tools to uplift overseas Filipinos and drive inclusive economic growth. Through platforms like BahAI, the Department reinforces its resolve to make homeownership more attainable for OFWs, contributing to a resilient, opportunity-rich, and future-ready “Bagong Pilipinas.” ♦
