The New Normal Entrepreneurs: Youth MSMEs in focus for DTI-CAR

The Department of Trade and Industry – Cordillera Administrative Region (DTI-CAR) invites all youth entrepreneurs ages 18-30 to join the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP!) Orientation on 15 September 2021. Now on its second year of implementation, the program boasts a total of 105 graduates to date.

YEP! is an all-inclusive approach towards youth enterprise development and youth enterprise as a catalyst for sustainable development and economic growth. Through this program, the youth will be empowered towards becoming the pioneers of innovative enterprises with the advent of ecommerce, putting emphasis on the social and environmental responsibilities that go hand-in-hand with entrepreneurship.

The Launching includes the following sessions:
1. Getting Started: The Entrepreneurial Mindset
Begin! Boost! Boom!: Great Ideas for Starting Things
2. Entrep Now: Big Dreams with Small Budget and Programs for the Youth
3. Entrep Best: What’s Business, Expense, Savings, and Time (BEST) for the Youth?
4. Negosyo Goals: Testimonials from Young Entrepreneurs.

The YEP! aims to help young Filipinos develop their entrepreneurial skills through a comprehensive package of interventions. With its official tagline “Harnessing Our Own Resources for the Advancement of the Youth!”, YEP! supports the government’s growth agenda of doubling the number of entrepreneurs in the country as well as address inequality, and uplift the quality of life of Filipinos, particularly the youth.

E-forum on Youth in Ensuring Food Security and Sustainability

In his keynote address to participants during the third Consumer Youth E-Forum, conducted by DTI, Department of Agriculture Secretary William Dar encouraged young participants to engage in the food sector to assure food security in their sector. With its theme: “Engaging Youth in Food Security and Sustainability”, Agriculture Secretary Dar and other speakers encouraged the youth’s active participation in addressing related issues and implementing measures aimed at addressing food security, sustainability. He also called for continuous patronage and support for local products. The e-forum was well participated by young entrepreneurs from the Provinces of the Cordillera Administrative Region. ♦
