To better serve the needs and provide quality service to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and other clients, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) MIMAROPA Region convened the Negosyo Center Business Counsellors (NCBCs) from the provinces of Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon on 6 – 8 June 2022 for an extensive capacity development training in Oriental Mindoro.
Around 46 NCBCs participated in the three-day activity, which equipped them with further knowledge on MSME development and consumer protection. Representatives from the DTI MIMAROPA Regional Office discussed the Small Business Corporation’s (SB Corp.) RISE UP Multi-Purpose Loan, a loan program that aims to sustain the gains of MSMEs that have survived the past two years of crisis. As the frontline of DTI in the municipalities, Negosyo Centers help facilitate the loan application of MSMEs through the SB Corp. Furthermore, the participants were also trained on price monitoring under the Department’s jurisdiction, knowledge exchange and presentation using Canva, and the Bureau of Small and Medium Enterprise Development’s (BSMED) Client Profile Monitoring System (CPMS) usage. The CPMS is an important tool utilized by the Negosyo Centers to comprehensively monitor the development of DTI’s assisted MSMEs.
Present during the activity were DTI MIMAROPA’s key officials such as Regional Director Joel B. Valera, Assistant Regional Director Rodolfo J. Mariposque, Occidental Mindoro Provincial Director Nornita S. Guerrero, Oriental Mindoro Provincial Director Arnel E. Hutalla who also opened the event with an insightful welcome message, Marinduque Provincial Director Roniel M. Macatol, and Romblon Provincial Director Noel DR. Flores.
Further, this activity aims to fill the gaps and address the concerns in the delivery of service of the Negosyo Center Business Counsellors. The participants are expected to emulate the learnings from the training sessions as they continue to promote ease of doing business anywhere in the region.
DTI MIMAROPA, on the other hand, is set to conduct a separate session for the business counselors in Palawan in the coming weeks. ♦
