Six local Bukidnon coffee growers were awarded for their arabica and robusta entries during the 2022 Philippine Coffee Quality Competition (PCQC) in Waterfront Insular Garden Pavilion, Davao City last March 18, 2022.

Six local farmers in Bukidnon have been recognized for their award-winning coffee products during the 2022 Philippine Coffee Quality Competition (PCQC) in Waterfront Insular Garden Pavilion, Davao City last 18 March 2022.

Arnlod Pina bagged the third place for the Arabica coffee entry. Other local coffee growers who landed other top spots were: Belinda Besto – 4th place and Renalod Mansulay – 9th place.

Meanwhile, Eljean V. Dagohoy claimed the 4th spot in the Robusta coffee entry, followed by Lorna Libante in the 5th place and with Pablo Helomoc in 8th place.   

Aside from the coffee awards, Dagohoy and another youth Bukidnon coffee grower also received a special award for their engagement in agriculture.

Dagohoy and Carlo Casenillas, both from Pigtauranan, Bukidnon, were recipients of the Youth in Coffee Award.

PCQC is an annual competition that aims to strengthen the Philippine coffee sector by assessing and promoting locally produced coffee to a bigger market, as well as improve local coffee production in the country through consultations and capacity-building activities.

This year’s 2022 PCQC was participated by 87 local coffee growers nationwide.

The awarding ceremony was conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) together with the Department of Agriculture (DA), ACDI/VOCA, the Barista and Coffee Academy of Asia (BCAA), and Coffee Quality Institute. ♦
