SMERA training in Solano

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Nueva Vizcaya recently conducted two-day training on how to start and sustain a business for the members of Solano Women’s Club and personnel of the Local Government Unit of Solano on May 10 and 11, 2017 held at Municipal Hall, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.

The training is aimed at improving the access of MSMEs to government services particularly in areas where these services may be limited and to provide developmental opportunities and educational experiences to would-be and existing entrepreneurs.

Mr. Godfrey D. Bariuan, DTI Region SME Roving Academy Counselor conducted the two- day training in collaboration with Ms. Keren Joy P. Marigondon, Negosyo Center Coordinator of Solano.

On May 10, 2017, among the topics discussed were the importance of having your business registered, the pros and cons of starting up a business including the possible risks an entrepreneur may encounter. Mr. Bariuan also discussed the advantages and disadvantages of being an entrepreneur.

Meanwhile, on May 11, 2017, the training focused on product costing and pricing which includes the thorough discussion on the different types of cost and ways of pricing a product. A business coaching and counseling was also conducted.

After the training, the 48 participants were grateful for the skills, tools, and experience they got from the SMERA program which they may use to manage and start their businesses.
