07292024_Canadian Government representatives visit Magallanes, Cavite for CATALYSTE + Program Assessment

Minister Rechie Valdez of Canada’s Small Business Department, accompanied by Canadian Ambassador David Hartman and Chair of the Canada-Philippines Inter-Parliamentary Group MP Marco Mendicino, visited the Catalyste+ MSME partners, the Magallanes Women’s Club Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MAWCO), and the TIKME Food Processors Association on July 23, 2024. The visit aimed to assess the progress of the Catalyste+ program in the Philippines and to discuss how Canada can further support the economic development objectives of MSME partners.

During the visit, DTI 4A Regional Director Marissa Argente expressed deep gratitude to the Government of Canada for their steadfast dedication and leadership in advancing the growth of MSMEs in the region. RD Argente emphasized that Canadian support has been crucial in not only facilitating the success of MSMEs but also in contributing to broader economic development and community enhancement.

RD Argente also acknowledged the significant and valued support of MAWCO and TIKME towards various government programs and services. She highlighted how their collaborative efforts with the government have been instrumental in achieving substantial improvements in their business operations.

The delegation also included Embassy Head of Cooperation John Lok, Chief of Staff Kendra Wilcox, Director of Policy Chris Zhou, and Catalyste+ country representatives Matt Navalta, Vner Velerio, and Erwin Altamarino. They were warmly welcomed by Magallanes Mayor Jasmin Maligaya-Bautista, DTI Cavite Provincial Director Lilibeth R. Chavez, and MAWCO and TIKME members and officers. ♦
