
VICTORIA, LAGUNA – The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna), through its Consumer Protection Division (CPD), conducted an on-site inspection of a service and repair enterprise (SRE) in Santa Cruz, Laguna on August 21, 2024, for accreditation renewal.
During the visit, the motor vehicle SRE was evaluated and assessed, with interviews conducted with the owner and staff to ensure compliance. They were also given a brief overview of Presidential Decree No. 1572 (PD 1572), Series of 1978, highlighting its importance for understanding the required processes.
This regular monitoring activity is in line with the PD 1572 which mandates the DTI to regulate and control the operation of SREs for motor vehicles, heavy equipment and engines, and engineering works; electronics, electrical, air-conditioning, and refrigeration; office equipment; medical and dental equipment; and other consumer mechanical and industrial equipment, appliances, or devices, including technicians.


In accordance with the PD 1572, DTI-Laguna continuously reminds SREs that their shops, as well as their technical personnel, are required to be accredited first by the DTI before their operations.
