Victoria, Laguna — Pursuant to the Presidential Decree No. 1572 (PD 1572), Series of 1978, the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) inspected service and repair enterprises (SREs) for renewal of their SRE accreditation on February 29, 2024, in San Pablo City and Alaminos, Laguna.

Seven (7) SREs were visited for on-the-spot evaluation and assessment. Owners, supervisors, and/or technicians were interviewed as part of compliance checking. They were also briefly oriented about PD 1572 and its importance to help them recall the process and requirements.

PD 1572 provides that the DTI is mandated to regulate and control the operation of SREs for motor vehicles, heavy equipment and engines, and engineering works; electronics, electrical, air conditioning, and refrigeration; office equipment; medical and dental equipment; and other consumer mechanical and industrial equipment, appliances, or devices, including technicians.

In accordance with the PD 1572, DTI-Laguna continuously reminds SREs that their shops, as well as their technical personnel, are required to be accredited first by the DTI before their operations. SREs located in Laguna may apply at the DTI-Laguna, located in Banca-Banca, Victoria, Laguna.
