
The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) in partnership with the Laguna State Polytechnic University – College of Business, Administration and Accountancy Santa Cruz, Laguna Campus (LSPU-CBAA) conducted a seminar with the following topics under the Small and Medium Enterprise Roving Academy (SMERA) Program of DTI-Laguna last May 06, 2024: Branding, Franchising, DTI Programs and Services and Consumer Education.
Hosted at the esteemed LSPU Campus, LSPU-CBAA and DTI-Laguna welcomed various participants including students, faculty members and aspiring entrepreneurs. CBAA Department Dean Maryjane Fuentes discussed the different types of branding such as corporate branding, personal branding and product branding. She emphasized the importance of building ones’ brand and how it will leave an impact to the community. Through real-world case studies and practical insights, attendees gained valuable perspectives on leveraging branding as a strategic tool for business growth and differentiation.



After that, Ms. Rozalle Palacol, another resource speaker, gave a brief yet concise discussion on her experience as a business franchisee. She provided a comprehensive overview of franchising as a dynamic business model, offering opportunities for entrepreneurship. Attendees gained insights into the franchising process, legal considerations and success factors for aspiring franchisees. With franchising emerging as a strong approach for business versatility, participants were left equipped with the knowledge and resources to explore franchising as a viable pathway to entrepreneurial success.
Lastly, DTI-Laguna Negosyo Center Business Counsellor Carl Eric Villanueva shared valuable insights into the diverse array of programs, services and initiatives aimed at supporting and nurturing aspiring and existing entrepreneurs. From business registration and compliance assistance to access to finance and market development support, attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of the various avenues through which DTI empowers entrepreneurs and promotes business growth. He also tackled Consumer Education which expounded the Consumer Act of the Philippines and the consumer rights and corresponding responsibilities.
This initiative is a component of DTI’s educational efforts aimed to inspire and give knowledge not only to entrepreneurs but also to students and the general public. Within DTI-Laguna’s SMERA framework, various activities collaborate with providers of business development services, local government units, educational institutions, financial entities and trade and industry associations, as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations. ♦
