Cabuyao City — According to Section 16 of the Republic Act No. 9501, also known as the Magna Carta for MSMEs, the second week of July of each year is declared as the MSME Development Week (MSMED Week) with the primary purpose of instituting awareness of the primacy of MSMEs in nation-building. This year’s overall theme focused on “Innovate to Elevate MSMEs” to underscore the pivotal role of innovation and digitalization in empowering MSMEs in today’s competitive business landscape.

One of the activities conducted by the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) particularly Negosyo Center Cabuyao City during the Celebration of the MSME Week last July 8 to 14, 2024, was an orientation on the Department’s programs and services in WISE community gathering held at Casa De Val, Brgy Pulo, Cabuyao City, Laguna, on July 11, 2024.

WISE (Women’s Initiative for Sustainability and Empowerment) in Cabuyao City, Laguna, is an organization composed of women with the aim of enhancing their capacity and abilities through entrepreneurship. The organization includes women who already have existing businesses, as well as those who are just starting to establish their own businesses.

The primary goal of WISE is to provide support and knowledge to women so that they can stand on their own feet and earn properly through their business interests. With this goal in mind, the organization aims to collaborate with DTI-Laguna to inform its members about the various programs and services offered by DTI. Through these discussions, it is expected that women will be encouraged to register their businesses to obtain an official business name certificate.

In addition, the program also aims to address any questions that members may have regarding the business registration process. In this way, women are helped to be prepared and informed when dealing with the legal aspects of entrepreneurship, which is an important step in their development as business owners.
