DTI Rizal collabs with UAP and AiTech to develop innovation thru FabLab

The Department of Trade and Industry – Rizal Provincial Office recently conducted a meeting with the United Architects of the Philippines and AiTech IDEA FabLab on March 8, 2024, focusing on the utilization of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the Shared Service Facility (SSF) for Construction, GDH, and Furniture (Innovation, Design, Engineering, Art IDEA FABLAB). The meeting was conducted at AiTech IDEA Fablab, Brgy. San Jose, Antipolo City.

The heart of the discussion revolved around the integration of bamboo architecture within the BIM framework. Arch John Jimenez and Arch Carmen from UAP discussed the possibilities offered by BIM in creating a comprehensive 3D model of a Bamboo Community Center. Through BIM, details, designs and features will be visualized, providing a holistic view of the community center before the construction begins.

The discussion also delved into the activation of BIM software licenses at AiTech, a pivotal step in aligning the institution with cutting-edge technological advancement. A dedicated segment of the meeting also focused on training Aitech’s qualified professors in effectively utilizing these BIM tools. This strategic move not only ensures that the institution remains at the forefront of BIM integration but also equip educators with the knowledge to impart essential skills to the next generation of architects and engineers.

The meeting was participated in by CTIDS Sharon F. Dioco, TIDS Noralyn Halimao  and SSF Staff Paolo Garrovillas of DTI while AITECH was represented by Engr. Michelle Mallari, Ms Eunice Doblada, Mr. Aldreb Sarabia and Mr. Normando Cervantes. ♦
