09092024_DTI Rizal conducts CHAMPS 7th module on Basic Accounting

Morong, Rizal – The Department of Trade and Industry – Rizal, through its Negosyo Center in Morong, successfully launched the first session of the Basic Accounting for MSMEs under the Collaborative Harnessing Assistance and Mentoring Program for SMEs (CHAMPS) on September 4, 2024.

The webinar, attended by the program’s beneficiaries and MSMEs from across the province, was hosted by NC Morong Business Counselor Leah Mae L. Clemente and began at 1:00 PM. Business Development Division Chief Sharon F. Dioco kicked off the session, emphasizing the crucial role of financial literacy in helping Rizal entrepreneurs maintain accurate and organized financial records.

Mr. Ernie D. Tano, a Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship Accredited Mentor and Certified Public Accountant, served as the webinar’s expert. His comprehensive presentation covered the basics of financial statements, accounting cycles, and systematic income and expense recording. Mr. Tano also shared practical examples of different business transactions and how they are reflected in financial statements. He concluded his presentation by answering participants’ questions.

The CHAMPS project is a localized mentoring program aimed at preparing microentrepreneurs for larger DTI Rizal programs. The second session of Basic Accounting for MSMEs is scheduled for September 11, 2024. ♦
