MAJAYJAY, LAGUNA – With the fast paced changes we are experiencing right now and the gradual shift of business from being offline to going online, cashless payments play a vital role in this situation.

Cashless payments are all payments made without the need of physical money. Whether it is through mobile banking, electronic wallet (e-wallet), or crypto currency, these payment systems allow the person to go and buy products seamlessly and hassle-free. In the business world, accepting cashless payment allows them to cater variety of customers most especially those who loves to keep their money online.

It is one of the reason why the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) through the Negosyo Center Majayjay conducted an SME Roving Academy Webinar entitled Incorporating Cashless Payment for a Contact Less Business Transaction for potential and existing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) via an online conferencing platform on 23 October 2020.

The goal of the said webinar is to inform the participants about the digital wallet, mobile banking and card payments, platforms and how they can use it, and the advantage of having cashless payment option. Mr. Rudyard Balmedilla, Resource Speaker, started with the brief history of money and continued with the advantages and disadvantages. Adding to the presentation was about basic online security. During the Q&A portion, participants were able to ask question regarding cashless payments and other security threats online. Balmedilla was able to meet the objectives of the webinar based on the 98.8% satisfaction rating given by the participants.

A total of 82 MSMEs, students, and potential business owners were able to learn from the webinar. The recorded version of the webinar was also uploaded at DTI-Laguna’s Facebook Page. Ms. Marcelina B. Alcantara, Business Development Division Chief of DTI-Laguna, ended the program with her message on the importance of incorporating cashless payment as well as the key takeaways from the webinar. These webinars become an effective tool to provide clients with information on various topics at the comfort of their homes. ♦
