On 16 November 2021, DTI-Quezon Provincial Office conducted a webinar on compliance and standards via Zoom. This activity was facilitated to assist OTOP and non-OTOP micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as well as students and potential entrepreneurs to innovate and produce market-ready products and services through compliance with mandatory requirements such as product testing, trademark registration, and barcode.

Opening remarks were given by Provincial Director (PD) Julieta L. Tadiosa as she encouraged MSMEs to invest in acquiring the pertinent requirements needed as this will provide endless possibilities for their businesses.

The invited resource speakers were representatives from Barcode Philippines, Intertek Philippines, and the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines.

Chester Lou A. Allones, QMS and Training Academy Manager of Intertek Philippines, gave a short discussion on the Quality Standards for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, which educated the participants on the quality standards needed for a specific level of business.

Engr. Maria Teresa Quintos-Laggui, IP Field Operations Specialist at IPSO NCR, discussed how to create a registrable brand and the importance of trademark protection for businesses.

Mr. Robert Jemison Regala, Customer Contact Specialist of Barcodes Philippines, presented how to acquire barcode prerequisites for products.

Closing remarks were given by the officer in charge of the Business Development Division, Ms. Ma. Cristina J. Avio.
