Malmö, Sweden — Philippine game development studios achieved a remarkable feat at Nordic Game 2024, securing USD 9.20 million in total sales during their second participation in the event.

Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry-Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB) and the International Trade Centre (ITC), through the ARISE Plus Philippines Project, the Philippine delegation showcased the country’s burgeoning game development industry.

Five studios—Arclight Lab Inc., GameOps, Inc., Neun Farben, Top Peg Animation Inc., and Startrace Studios OPC—engaged with global industry leaders and professionals in the game development community, showcasing their world-class services and talents.

Renowned as Europe’s top game developer conference connecting game developers, publishers, and investors, Nordic Game provided a valuable opportunity for the Philippine studios to forge partnerships and explore new business avenues. The significant sales achieved underscore the growing global recognition of the Philippines as a hub for game development.

“We are proud of the achievements and the strong growth that our Philippine game development industry has shown over time. Their expertise in game-related services has attracted foreign companies, which have established video game operation centers within the country,” said DTI Undersecretary for Industry Development and Investment Promotions Group Ceferino Rodolfo.

“With the support of the ARISE Plus Philippines Project, we have showcased our capabilities beyond our traditional markets, making inroads in the European market,” he added.

The Philippine Export Development Plan 2023-2028 emphasizes the importance of a robust export ecosystem, which is crucial to the sector’s sustained growth.

“We are grateful for the strong support that our game development sector has been receiving under the ARISE Plus Philippines Project. Their technical support in building the capacity of our game developers to expand to new markets has been instrumental to the sector’s growth,” said DTI-EMB Director Bianca Sykimte.

“The Philippines’ promising game development sector continues to thrive globally, as exemplified by their second participation in the Nordic Game. This success aligns with the objective of our Arise Plus project to diversify the country’s export markets, undertaken in collaboration with the DTI and the industry,” added Arise Plus Project Manager of the ITC, Sylvie Cochin.

ARISE Plus Philippines Project is a European Union (EU)-funded initiative aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Philippine exports and promoting inclusive economic growth.
