Quezon City, Philippines—On June 10, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina A. Roque and Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Secretary Frederick Go welcomed the launch of Green GSM Philippines as the country’s first fully foreign-owned electric vehicle operator.
This groundbreaking entry is marked by Green GSM’s initial fleet deployment of 2,500 electric vehicles, a significant step towards the nation’s goal of a 100% electric public transport system.
“Under President Marcos’ leadership, we are advancing sustainability and digitalization through the ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ vision—fostering an environment where investors like Green GSM can thrive and uplift Filipino lives,” said DTI Secretary Roque.
She also affirmed that this initiative is more than a business launch. It opens up new possibilities such as cleaner air, greater employment, safer and more comfortable commuting, and a concrete contribution to the country’s climate action agenda.
The launch of Green GSM Philippines underscores a vital public-private partnership for inclusive and sustainable growth. It demonstrates that when people, planet, and innovation come together, the nation moves forward as a greener, stronger, and more future-ready country. ♦
