Pasig City, Philippines—The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) concluded its Malikhaing Pinoy: Music Business Masterclass on April 05 with a culminating concert and networking activity at the Meridian International Business, Arts and Technology (MINT) College. This event marked the end of months-long intensive training for 81 emerging music entrepreneurs from across the country.

The evening commenced with a dynamic performance by DWTA, establishing a vibrant atmosphere filled with talent, collaboration, and creative energy. Additionally, a dedicated segment showcased performances by artists under direct managed by the scholars, demonstrating the practical knowledge and experience gained throughout the program.

Featured artists included Eliza Maturan, LEYO, Frisbee, KYLEUX + k1ko, and COSTA CASHMAN + BRGR, each delivering fresh musical perspectives that left a strong impression on the audience.

Beyond the concert, the event also facilitated a networking mixer that provided scholars with the opportunity to connect directly with key stakeholders from the music industry.

Crucially, MINT College facilitated tailored introductions between scholars and industry guests, effectively transforming classroom lessons into real-world breakthroughs. These direct connections immediately opened doors to career-defining opportunities, including internships, artist collaborations, and label negotiations. For instance, one scholar secured a distribution deal, and another entered talks for a label collaboration.

Micah “Bob” Ecarma (Representative, ACCRA Law).

MINT College President Tonsito Umali underscored the school’s commitment to nurturing the local music ecosystem, stating, “MINT College is always open for collaborations to help the development of the Music Industry.”

Echoing this, DTI-Creative Industries Development Office Officer-in-Charge, Director Lilian G. Salonga affirmed the agency’s belief in Filipino talent. She said, “The DTI believes in your talent and potential and Filipino music’s bright future. Together, let’s build it.”

As the night concluded, it became evident that the Malikhaing Pinoy Program is poised to reshape the Filipino music industry—one empowered creative entrepreneur at a time. ♦
