The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the Philippine Trade and Investment Center-Beijing (PTIC-Beijing), participated in the 13th Energy Storage International Exhibit & Conference (ESIE 2025) in Beijing on 10-11 April 2025 to showcase investment opportunities in the Philippines’ Renewable Energy (RE) industry. Representing the Philippines at the event were Ambassador Jaime FlorCruz, Commercial Counsellor Glenn Peñaranda, and experts from the Renewable Energy Management Bureau of the Department of Energy (DOE).

The Philippines continues to solidify its standing as a leading destination for renewable energy investments, backed by its abundant resources and investor-friendly policies. Bloomberg NEF Climatescope 2024 recently ranked the country as the second most attractive energy hub in the world.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported that the Philippines approved US$6 billion worth of energy projects in 2024, with renewables accounting for 63% of total approvals—creating significant opportunities for technology providers, service contractors, and investors from China and other markets.

As the country advances toward its RE targets of  35% share in the energy mix by 2030 and over 50% by 2050, the Philippines actively welcomes partnerships and investments to accelerate its clean energy transition.

The Energy Storage International Exhibit & Conference (ESIE) is organized by the China Energy Storage Alliance (CNESA), serving as a key platform for global stakeholders to explore emerging trends and investment prospects in the sector.

The Philippines’ participation in ESIE has deepened collaboration with the CNESA, which has expressed interest in furthering information exchange and business matching. As part of this growing partnership, CNESA plans to send a business delegation to the Philippines in the coming months to explore investment and cooperation opportunities in the RE sector.
