Mentees of the Dynamico Space and San Francisco mentorship program

The 2nd batch of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 6 Moonshot Trabaho, Negosyo, Konsyumer (TNK) finalists met with Dynamico Space mentors for a virtual pitching and networking night.

Dynamico mentors Ms. Nancy Hwang (Head of Mentorship), Ms. Jessica Tsoong (Investor and Advisor, Relay Ventures, and Founder of WiFi Slam- acquired by Apple), and Matthew Brightman (Advisor, and Sr. Product Manager at Google) shared their experience and expertise on how the founders can position their companies in the marketplace, differentiate their product/service from competitors, and what to consider when pitching to investors. Featured Philippine startups include:

Maker Academy – is a subscription-based model to enable the STEM robotics in schools. The kits have add-on electronic module tailored to industrial-scale application packaged with technical support and free of charge parts replacement. Each module comes with a workbook that will guide the teachers and student in assembling the hardware and sequence of programming.

Creative Definitions – is the startup behind the LAKAT Sustainable Sneakers.   100% Filipino-made sneakers using sustainable textiles made of natural fiber grown locally, and handwoven by partner weaving communities, providing them with sustainable income.

Trashure Crafts – is a social enterprise built on achieving sustainable development and promoting sustainable consumption by offering collection hubs for residual and special waste and selling products made from waste materials.

The FOXMONT Capital Partners Philippine Venture Report noted that the Philippine startup ecosystem is on the rise, ranking 53rd across the globe in 2020 and advancing by 17 positions from its rank in 2017. The Philippines also continues to experience an increasing level of startup activity across its regions. Metro Manila, the country’s National Capital Region located in the Luzon Island, recently joined Startup Blink’s 100 cities club to rank 88th among 1,000 cities across the globe and has advanced by an astonishing 830 positions from its rank in 2017. Meanwhile, Cebu City and Cagayan de Oro located in Visayas and Mindanao, respectively, also made noteworthy developments in 2020 rankings.

DTI Region 6 moonshot TNK winners have the potential to disrupt the market that they are addressing.  They have taken a leap towards developing a business model for their innovations and the “Philippines-Silicon Valley Startup Program” aims to assist them to launch and grow their business.

Unique to Dynamico Space is its Virtual Team Service, which puts a spotlight on the Philippines as a leading global provider of IT and Business Process Management service.  Dynamico provides access to back-office services to help teams get started and scale, helping companies focus on their core strengths by providing easy access to back-office services.

Dynamico is also focused on building a mentorship program that will help companies and founders by connecting them to individuals who they can learn from, who can advise them, and they can rely on for expertise.  Dynamico has a variety of mentors across all different industries and stages of companies, on both sides of the table (founders and investors).  Through mentors, companies will have access to people who understand Silicon Valley and how it works. They will be able to talk to people who have been through accelerator programs like YC, TechStars, or StarX and who can advise them on how best to grow and build their companies.
