Taipei, Taiwan, 7 May 2025 — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through its overseas office in Taiwan—the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Taipei (PTIC-Taipei)—successfully concluded its Integrated Investment Promotion Campaign from May 5 to 7, 2025. Supported by the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO), the campaign marked a significant milestone with the official launch of UNI-President Information Philippines Corp. (UNI-PIPC), the technology arm of Taiwan’s Uni-President Group.
UNI-PIPC’s entry into the Philippine market signals stronger strategic partnerships and key investments between the Philippines and Taiwan. With an initial investment of PHP 100 million and plans to employ over 100 people in its first year, UNI-PIPC will spearhead the digital transformation of 7-Eleven operations nationwide. The event also introduced the Lumina Hub, a cross-border innovation platform designed to support startups in Taiwan, the Philippines, and Singapore.
The mission also featured high-level engagements with the Philippine Department of Transportation (DOTr) to explore collaborations in electric vehicle (EV) development and railway infrastructure. These initiatives, led in partnership with MECO and the Subic-Clark Alliance for Development (SCAD), align with shared priorities in research and development (R&D), talent upskilling, and localization of critical technologies to enhance regional economic connectivity and competitiveness.
PTIC-Taipei’s campaign reflects its continued effort to foster stronger economic ties with Taiwanese companies by promoting investment opportunities in high-value sectors. Through a value chain approach, PTIC works closely with the Board of Investments – Investment Assistance Service (BOI-IAS) to help Taiwanese firms navigate regulatory requirements, accelerate project timelines, and seamlessly integrate into the Philippine business landscape. ♦
