In accordance with the Consumer Act of the Philippines, DTI is at the forefront of ensuring the protection of consumers against deceptive, unfair, and unconscionable sales and practices.

From January 2024 to December 29, 2024, the DTI MIMAROPA has monitored over 500 firms across the region. These firms include stores selling basic necessities and prime commodities and construction materials under DTI’s jurisdiction. Around 2,000 stock keeping units were monitored to ensure that they are within the suggested retail prices or price freeze bulletin, and if supplies are stable, especially during state of calamities.

DTI MIMAROPA also geared up for the monitoring of establishments selling firecrackers with Philippine Standard (PS) mark ahead of the New Year celebration. A total of 15 firms have already been monitored in Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Palawan. In Palawan, two of the four wholesalers monitored were issued a Notice of Violation.

DTI is committed to safeguarding consumers by closely monitoring that essential goods are compliant with regulatory price bulletins and that supplies are stable. ♦
