The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – MIMAROPA converged with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – MIMAROPA for the construction and improvement of access roads leading to trade, industry, and economic zones in the region.

DTI - MIMAROPA with the Department of Public Works and Highways - MIMAROPA and representatives from the local government units (LGUs) of Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan during the virtual meeting about the construction and improvement of access roads leading to trade, industry, and economic zones in the region

In 2025, DTI MIMAROPA secured the approval for multi-year projects valued at P160 million, prioritizing road development to address critical logistics needs. The projects went through several assessments and endorsements from the Regional Development Council, DTI, and the DPWH.

The Roads Leveraging Linkages of Industry and Trade (ROLL IT) 2.0—Logistics Efficiency and Transport Seamlessness to Enhance Agribusiness Trade (LETS EAT) Program is a specialized version of the ROLL IT program launched in 2016, aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration’s 8-Point Socioeconomic Agenda. The program focuses on ensuring food security and reducing transport and logistics costs. ROLL IT 2.0 – LETS EAT is a convergence program based on the Memorandum of Agreement signed between DTI and  DPWH on December 19, 2022.

As part of its mandate to develop and promote industry clusters, the DTI has identified priority commodities based on the three-year food logistics plan and the comprehensive national logistics strategy, including onion, fish, banana, coffee, salt, carrageenan, cacao, and fruits and nuts.

“We are taking an infrastructure approach to address gaps in food security in partnership with the DPWH. Infrastructure is the nexus between economic development and social growth, which is why we believe projects like this require involvement from various government agencies,” said DTI MIMAROPA Regional Director Rodolfo Mariposque.

On February 7, 2025, DTI MIMAROPA organized a virtual orientation meeting with DPWH MIMAROPA and representatives from the local government units (LGUs) of Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan. The LGUs were encouraged to identify and submit potential agribusiness road projects for 2026 under the same program. ♦
