MAKATI CITY – After a series of screenings, evaluations, and assessments, Bongabong was named the Most Consumer-Friendly Public Market in Oriental Mindoro, while Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, Santa Cruz, Marinduque, Looc, Romblon, and Bataraza, Palawan also received recognition.
The different DTI provincial offices also awarded outstanding public market sellers in the dry goods and sundries, fruits and vegetables, and fish and meat sections.
The Pamilihang Bayan ng Bidang Mamimili (PBBM) recognizes local government units (LGUs) with public markets that adhere to industry standards in consumer protection and empowerment. The markets were assessed based on their compliance with consumer protection laws, fair-trade practices, consumer welfare, service relations, store management, facilities, and operations.
From the five provincial winners, the DTI will announce the most consumer-friendly public market in the region on October 24, 2024, during the Tatak Pinoy: OBRA MIMAROPA event.
DTI MIMAROPA encourages various local government units and the public to participate in ensuring that consumers have access to safe, high-quality goods and services in public markets. ♦
