Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Occidental, in collaboration with the Provincial Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development (MSMED) Council conducted the Provincial MSME Summit on December 19, 2024 at the Grand Luxe Ballroom, Royal Garden Hotel, Ozamiz City.

With the theme “Empowering MSMEs, Driving Innovation, and Building Connections,” the summit aimed to track the progress of DTI’s Kapatid Mentor ME (KMME) program graduates and other supported MSMEs.

Additionally, it provided the assisted MSMEs with learning sessions on trending topics aligned with the priorities of DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina A. Roque.

It also fostered collaboration among stakeholders to support MSME development in the province.

The summit featured relevant discussions on enhancing business organizational culture; basic information, opportunities, and legal requirements of franchising; harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digitalization in business; and the introduction of Point-of-Sale (POS) System.

Guest speakers were Geralde O. Tio, entrepreneur and founder of multiple local businesses; Atty. Nicole Villanueva-Yu, an affiliate of the Philippine Franchise Association; Dr. Adrian P. Galido from Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT); and Engr. Benedict T. Te, CEO of Te Group of Companies.

The summit also organized a one-on-one consultation with the speakers for MSMEs to further enhance their understanding and address specific business challenges.

DTI-10 OIC-Regional Director Ruel Paclipan congratulated the organizers and the participants for the laudable event.

In his message of support, RD Paclipan said that the summit gathers “the major stakeholders of MSME development in Misamis Occidental to discuss about trends and development that would probably propel the MSMEs of the province.”

Provincial MSMED Council Chairperson Elvira D. Tan also highlighted the unwavering support of the provincial and city government and emphasized the summit’s relevance in promoting competitiveness among MSMEs.

The Provincial MSME Summit is one of DTI Misamis Occidental’s efforts to empower MSMEs through innovation, capacity-building, and strong partnerships for MSMEs to become important contributors to a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in Misamis Occidental. ♦
