Cagayan de Oro City – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Oriental and the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) – Cagayan de Oro City launch the Shared Service Facility (SSF) Project called “Enhancing Northern Mindanao Food Innovation Center: Laboratory, Accreditation, and Commercialization Facility” on December 18, 2024, at the USTP-CDO Campus.
SSF is a flagship program of DTI that is designed to provide MSMEs with access to advanced machinery, equipment, and technical support under a shared system.
By leveraging these resources, local businesses can improve their production capabilities, enhance product quality, and ultimately expand their market reach.

The recently launched SSF project aims to equip the Northern Mindanao Food Innovation Center (NMFIC) with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and cutting-edge food processing equipment.
The enhanced capabilities will enable local food processors, entrepreneurs, and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to access advanced tools and technologies to innovate and improve product quality, meet international food safety and accreditation standards, scale their production for both local and global markets, and foster collaborations for research and product development.
This initiative will enhance the region’s food processing capabilities, promote sustainable development, and boost the global competitiveness of Northern Mindanao’s food sector.
In her message during the official launching of the facility, DTI Misamis Oriental OIC-Provincial Director Jesusa M. Abear underscored DTI’s commitment to empowering MSMEs and fostering inclusive growth.
“Through this SSF project, we aim to bridge the gap between local potential and global opportunities.” Abear said.
“The NMFIC will be instrumental in transforming ideas into market-ready products.”
The ribbon cutting ceremony was led by DTI Region 10 OIC-Assistant Regional Director Almer Masillones; DTI Misamis Oriental OIC-Provincial Director Jesusa Abear; and USTP System President, Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II.
The project’s launching was attended by key stakeholders, government officials, and industry leaders. ♦
