On 6 June 2022, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 12 received a special award from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) for having garnered the 2nd Highest Filings in all the 13 DTI regions in the country under the Juana Make a Mark Program for CY 2017-2021.

The Juana Make a Mark is a trademark registration incentive program of IPOPHIL that allows eligible MSMEs to have their trademarks registered at a reduced cost. It aims to instill in business owners a “first-mover filing” mindset, which means registering for trademark before starting a business to assure availability of and exclusivity over the mark before spending money on other business operation costs such as packaging and marketing.

With this award, DTI 12 Regional Director (RD) Jude Constantine S. Jaugan commends the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) of Region 12 for being one of the most active and competitive in the country. He encouraged them to continue making their mark in the business world not only through these filings but also through their passion as entrepreneurs.
