Sultan Kudarat, Philippines—On April 4, 2025, in Sultan Kudarat, the Kape Dose 2025 Coffee Quality Competition Awarding Ceremony brought together coffee farmers, processors, and industry stakeholders in an atmosphere celebrating success. Organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the event showcased the best coffees from SOCCSKSARGEN, highlighting the growing strength of the region’s local coffee industry.

The ceremony not only honored the exceptional quality of coffee produced in Region 12 and recognized the dedication of local coffee producers. Winners were celebrated for their outstanding contributions to elevating coffee standards and ensuring excellence

“Kape Dose is more than an event—it is a movement towards a stronger, more sustainable coffee sector. It is about collaboration, learning, and taking our coffee to new heights,” said DTI Regional 12 Director Flora D. Politud-Gabunales.

The event was a result of strong partnerships with the Department of Agriculture 12, Sultan Kudarat State University, Peace and Equity Foundation, Mahintana Foundation, Inc., The Filipino Coffee Institute, the Region 12 Coffee Council, and local government units. These collaborations demonstrate the region’s unified effort to strengthen the coffee value chain through initiatives like the Industry Cluster Enhancement Program and the RAPID Growth Project.

In the robusta category, Orlando Bayudan won the championship with 88.14 points, followed closely by Idelberto Deramos with 88 points and Rodello Calunsag with 87.64 points. 

For the arabica category, Di Famor Gacayan took the first place with 83.3 points, while Jessie Castor secured second place with 82.75 points, and Ma. Fe Beatingo placed third with 82.65.

The success of the Kape Dose Coffee Quality Competition 2025 underscores the growing potential of the local coffee sector to drive rural development, create livelihoods, and contribute to sustainable growth.

The event concluded with a clear message: Kape ng Rehiyon Dose—kape ng sipag, kalidad, at pag-asa. ♦
