As a member of the Nueva Vizcaya Watershed Management Committee (NVWMC), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 2 Nueva Vizcaya led by Provincial Director Atty. Michael B. Paggabao joined the Ceremonial Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding among the NVWMC members on 17 July 2024.
The NVWMC, under the leadership of Governor Jose V. Gambito, was established through Executive Order No. 2019-86. Its purpose is to foster collaboration on improving watershed conservation efforts and to facilitate agreements among stakeholders for collective actions that will enhance public forestlands and watersheds.
In his message, Governor Gambito highlighted the significance of sustainable watershed governance and management in delivering long-term benefits to stakeholders and constituents. He also discussed various interventions by the Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) to preserve the province’s farmlands amid growing infrastructure development and business activities.
The MOU signing, involving 46 members, was a key step in formalizing and institutionalizing the operations of the NVWMC, ensuring a structured approach to watershed management.
According to PD Paggabao, this commitment reflects a unified dedication to safeguarding the province’s natural resources for the benefit of current and future generations, affirming Nueva Vizcaya’s role as the Watershed Haven of the Cagayan Valley Region.
