Cauayan City, Isabela — In a collaborative effort between the Department of Trade and Industry R02 Isabela (DTI Isabela) and Isabela State University (ISU) Cauayan City Campus, the Youth Entrepreneurship Program – You Can Be Your Own Boss (YEP! BYOB) training was conducted at the Amphitheater, ISU – Cauayan Campus, San Fermin, Cauayan City, Isabela, from May 27-31, 2024.

With a resounding participation of 134 third-year Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship students from ISU’s Cauayan and Cabagan campuses, the five-day immersive experience aimed to equip aspiring entrepreneurs with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the business landscape. The training comprised four comprehensive modules: My Business, My Business Operations, My Resources and Finances, and My Business Pitch, featuring a diverse array of 18 topics ranging from entrepreneurial strategies to essential life skills. YEP! BYOB is a practical, activity-based, learner-centered training that provides step-by-step, industry-based business skills enabling the youth to think of business ideas, design, and present their business ideas and plans by the end of the workshop. These business ideas will also be implemented as part of their curriculum.

Facilitated by business counselors and technical experts from DTI, including Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist Ms. Mary Rose M. Dumpit, Negosyo Center – Trade and Industry Development Analysts Ms. Janine Arevalo-Tabbu and Ms. Frances Monique Peredo, and Junior Business Counselors Ms. Frechel D. Umaguing, Ms. Cris Wella Grace L. Buyagao, and Ms. Angelica D. Bugauisan, participants were immersed in an environment conducive to learning and growth.

A highlight of the program was the presentation of the meticulously crafted business model canvases of the twenty-six groups before a discerning panel of judges, which included Mr. Carlo Castillo, President of PCCI Isabela Chapter, Mr. Mark Duque, LO President of JCI Cauayan Bamboo, Atty. Christian Gonzales, LYDO Cauayan, Mr. Matt Rodnie Matias, Project Development Officer of DISC TBI, and Ms. Mary Rose Dumpit, STIDS of DTI Isabela.

Following a rigorous evaluation process, the group “Sweet Bliss” captivated the panelists with their innovative and scalable business concept. Their success stands as a testament to the program’s efficacy in nurturing entrepreneurial acumen and fostering innovation among today’s youth.

The Youth Entrepreneurship Program – You Can Be Your Own Boss not only imparts practical skills but also ignites the entrepreneurial spirit, empowering tomorrow’s business leaders to chart their own path toward success. ♦
