The Department of Trade and Industry Region 2 (DTI R2) applauds Local Government Units from Cagayan Valley Region that made it to the top 10 in this year’s Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Awarding Ceremony during the 10th Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Summit (CMCS) on 20 October 2022 at the Philippine International Convention Center, Pasay City, and via Facebook Live.
Tuguegarao City, Cagayan was hailed as Top 7 Over-all Most Competitive under the Component Cities category and Cauayan City, Isabela have been recognized as Top 4 Most Improved under the Component Cities category.
The following LGUs were recognized in the following pillars:
Economic Dynamism:
Top 7: San Isidro, Isabela (5th to 6th Class Municipalities)
Top 9: Basco, Batanes (5th to 6th Class Municipalities)
Government Efficiency
Top 7: Saguday, Quirino (5th to 6th Class Municipalities)
Top 4: Maconacon, Isabela (3rd to 4th Class Municipalities)
Top 4: Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (Component Cities)
Resiliency
Top 4: Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (Component Cities)
Innovation
Top 6: Tuguegarao City, Cagayan (Component Cities)
Echague, Isabela was also awarded as Top 3 in the Special Awards on IP Rights under the Municipalities category.
The CMCS was organized by the DTI Competitiveness Bureau, in partnership with the International Council for Small Business Philippines (ICSBP), where over 100 awards were conferred to deserving LGUs that excelled in the following five Competitiveness Pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, Resiliency, and Innovation.
DTI R2 will continue to handhold these LGUs to enhance their competitiveness in the various CMCI pillars and is hopeful that more LGUs will be recognized in the succeeding CMCS, given the region’s commitment towards improvement, development, and innovation.
Furthermore, DTI R2 will be recognizing the LGUs during the 6th Cagayan Valley Regional Competitiveness Forum and 2022 CMCI Awarding Ceremony at the upcoming Padday na Lima Trade Fair. #
