Secretary Dominic Tolentino of the Regional Operations Group with PD Christian Ted O. Tungohan, Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Laguna Provincial Office with 190 beneficiaries of Livelihood Assistance Packages

Santa Cruz, Laguna — A total of 190 beneficiaries from 19 municipalities in Laguna were awarded Livelihood Assistance Packages from the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay program headed by Assistant Secretary Dominic Tolentino of the Regional Operations Group with PD Christian Ted O. Tungohan, Provincial Director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Laguna Provincial Office.

The Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay aims to provide direct assistance in starting or sustaining a business for the marginalized sectors in target barangays or local communities and to promote entrepreneurship among marginalized sectors in target barangays to contribute to poverty reduction.

Asst. Tolentino in his inspirational message was happy to share that current Secretary Cris Aldeguer Roque was once an entrepreneur herself in the fashion industry. DTI Laguna is grateful for the partnerships and collaborations developed with the local government units benefitting microentrepreneurs. Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez was represented by the Local Economic and Investment Promotions Officer Ms. Pinky Villaseñor and Executive Assistant Mr. Dennis Villavecer.

Months prior to the awarding, DTI conducted entrepreneurial trainings covering topics on starting up a business, business mentoring, and simplified action planning with the NSB beneficiaries which were held 4th week of November 2024. After successfully completing all requirements for the said program, the awarding of livelihood packages took place December 27, 2024 at the Time Plaza, Laguna Provincial Capitol Compound, Santa Cruz, Laguna.

Awardees of the livelihood kits are microentrepreneurs from the municipalities of Luisiana, Cavinti, Majayjay, Nagcarlan, Pakil, Pangil, Mabitac, Calauan, Pagsanjan, Liliw, Rizal, Magdalena, Cabuyao, Los Baños, Calamba, Pila, and Bay, Laguna. Sari-sari store owners comprise the majority of the beneficiaries. ♦
