Bay, Laguna — On February 19, 2025, the CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI), in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna Provincial Office, launched their inaugural livelihood training program for the year. Held at CMDI’s campus in Purok 3, Brgy. Tranca, Bay, Laguna, the event attracted over 30 micro-entrepreneurs from various parts of CALABARZON, all clients of CARD.
The seminar entitled “Business Compliance and Workplace Efficiency: Registration, Licensing, and 6S” aimed to equip participants with vital skills to enhance their business operations. This initiative is part of the ongoing partnership between CMDI and DTI, dedicated in supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises through comprehensive training and resources.
Participants delved into topics such as the legal procedures for business registration and licensing in the Philippines, with a particular emphasis on the advantages of formal business registration, especially Business Name registration. The seminar also introduced the 6S methodology—Seiri (Sort), Seiton (Set in Order), Seiso (Shine), Seiketsu (Standardize), Shitsuke (Sustain), and Safety—to promote workplace efficiency and safety. Interactive sessions enabled attendees to practically apply these principles within their micro-enterprises.

Resource speakers Ms. Avegail D. Agojo (Negosyo Center Business Counselor in Bay) and Ms. Dianne M. Piamonte (Negosyo Center Business Counselor in Calauan) shared their expertise on navigating the complexities of business compliance.
Implementing the 6S methodology can significantly enhance micro-enterprises by fostering a well-organized and efficient workplace. This approach not only streamlines operations but also cultivates a safer environment, leading to increased productivity and profitability. Studies have demonstrated that adopting 6S principles improves workplace safety and efficiency, contributing to overall business success.
Moreover, a structured and orderly workspace positively influences employees’ mental health. Agojo further mentioned to the participants, “Masarap magtrabaho kapag malinis ang paligid. Mas nakaka-motivate.” Research supports this perspective, indicating that a clean and organized environment reduces stress and enhances focus, leading to improved job satisfaction and morale.
This training marks the first of many initiatives planned by CMDI and DTI for 2025, aiming to continuously support and uplift the micro-enterprise sector not only in Laguna but throughout CALABARZON (ADAgojo, DTI Laguna). ♦
