VICTORIA, LAGUNA – In celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month 2024 last October, themed “Be smart, assert your consumer rights!”, the Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Laguna and the Metro Central Mall Development Corporation, recognized 50 Laguna-based retail establishments for their commitment to consumer rights and quality service.
The Bagwis Awarding Ceremony was held on October 30, 2024, at Metro Central Mall, Santa Cruz, Laguna, and awarded 14 retail establishments with the Bronze Seal, 32 with the Silver Seal, and four (4) with the Gold Seal.
The recipients of the Bagwis Seal of Excellence Awards are retail establishments across various sectors, including supermarkets, grocery stores, convenience stores, home appliance and furniture shops, clothing stores, hardware outlets, and motorcycle dealerships. These establishments have successfully met the criteria set forth by the DTI to qualify for the award.
The DTI-Bagwis Program recognizes businesses that demonstrate a commitment to upholding consumer rights while maintaining high standards of ethical business practices. Through this program, the DTI highlights businesses that offer consumers the best value for their money and promote fairness and honesty in providing goods and services.
In addition, the program also encourages the establishment of Consumer Welfare Desks (CWDs) or similar customer service offices for consumer information dissemination and a fast-tracked process for resolving complaints.
DTI-Laguna encourages all retail establishments in Laguna, including grocery stores, supermarkets, department stores, specialty shops, appliance centers, hardware stores, and DTI-accredited service and repair outlets, to apply for the Bagwis Program and earn recognition for their commitment to consumer protection.
