
Calamba City, Laguna — On February 27, 2025, the Laguna Provincial Office of the Department of Trade and Industry, through its Negosyo Centers Majayjay and Rizal, in partnership with the Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Department (CLDD) of Calamba City, hosted a seminar on “Basic Pricing and Costing cum Consumer Education” at the Jose Rizal Coliseum, Calamba City, Laguna. The event ran from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and was attended by both aspiring and existing MSMEs from the city.
The seminar aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge on pricing, costing, and understanding consumer rights and responsibilities to boost their business operations and enhance their consumer awareness.

Ms. Angelica Fae Rodriguez, Cooperatives Development Specialist II, served as the esteemed host and provided an overview on how to participate in trade fairs organized by local government units and other partner agencies. Following this, Ms. Rica Mae Garcia, Senior Business Counselor assigned in Negosyo Center Majayjay, delivered an insightful presentation on basic pricing and costing for microentrepreneurs. She covered topics such as the difference between cost and price, the two components of costing, factors to consider when pricing a product, pricing strategies, and pricing strategy matrix that can be beneficial to their business operations. A step-by-step workshop on calculating the cost of manufacturing and pricing a product chosen by each group was also conducted.

It was followed by a brief presentation on Consumer Education by Ms. Nicole Concejero, Business Counselor assigned in Negosyo Center Rizal. Concejero emphasized the rights and responsibilities of every consumer, as well as the implementing agencies responsible for consumer protection.

The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing the participants to clarify any concerns.
