
The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI-Laguna) in partnership with the Laguna State Polytechnic University – College of Business, Administration and Accountancy Siniloan, Laguna Campus (LSPU-CBAA) conducted a seminar with the following topics last April 23, 2025: Business Ideas, DTI Programs and Services and Consumer Education.
Hosted at the esteemed LSPU Siniloan Campus, LSPU-CBAA and DTI-Laguna welcomed various participants including students, faculty members and aspiring entrepreneurs. The program commenced with a solemn opening prayer and the heartfelt singing of the Philippine National Anthem. This was followed by a warm and inspiring welcome address delivered by Dr. Grace M. Esmade, CPA, Dean of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy. In her remarks, Dr. Esmade underscored the vital role of entrepreneurship in navigating today’s dynamic and rapidly evolving global landscape. Her message served as an inspiring call to action for students, encouraging them to embrace the entrepreneurial mindset as a means to create meaningful impact in their communities and beyond.
Afterwards, the seminar featured a series of insightful and engaging discussions led by Mr. Carl Eric Villanueva, Business Counsellor from Negosyo Center Magdalena. He delivered an informative session on “Business Ideas,” which provided valuable knowledge and practical guidance for aspiring entrepreneurs. The presentation delved into the fundamentals of creating viable business concepts, identifying market opportunities, economic trends and community needs. Participants were given examples, actionable tips, and strategic advice that allowed them to think creatively and critically about launching or improving their own businesses. The discussion not only enlightened attendees on the importance of innovation and adaptability but also highlighted the role of entrepreneurship as a key component of our economic growth.



Villanueva further shared valuable insights into the diverse array of programs, services and initiatives aimed at supporting and nurturing aspiring and existing entrepreneurs. From business registration and compliance assistance to access to finance and market development support, attendees gained a comprehensive understanding of the various avenues through which DTI empowers entrepreneurs and promotes business growth. He also tackled Consumer Education which expounded the Consumer Act of the Philippines and the consumer rights and corresponding responsibilities.
This initiative is a component of DTI’s educational efforts aimed to inspire and give knowledge not only to entrepreneurs but also to students and the general public. It also circles around various activities that collaborate with providers of business development services, local government units, educational institutions, financial entities and trade and industry associations, as well as governmental and non-governmental organizations (CEVillanueva, DTI-Laguna). ♦
